Sec. 2-100. - Appointed city clerk position established.

The city clerk shall no longer be an elective official of the City of Hemet. From and after November 4, 2008, or upon earlier vacancy in the office of city clerk, the city clerk shall be appointed by the city council to an at-will position. Notwithstanding California Government Code § 36502 to the contrary, the city clerk is not required to be a resident or elector in the city. The city council may by ordinance delegate and vest in the city manager its authority to appoint and dismiss the city clerk.

As provided in this section, and in section 2-86 of this chapter, the city council delegates and vests in the city manager its authority to appoint, remove, control, order, and give direction to the city clerk.
