§ 2.29.010. Establishment.¶
Pursuant to the provisions of the Government Code of the state, there is created, continued and established an airport zoning commission.

§ 2.29.020. Appointment to office.¶
Planning commissioners who are duly appointed to the planning commission pursuant to Chapter 2.28 shall serve concurrently as airport zoning commissioners, and their term shall be the same as that for the planning commission.

§ 2.29.030. Ex officio members.¶
Ex officio members of the planning commission shall serve also as the ex officio members of the airport zoning commission.

§ 2.29.040. Compensation.¶
The members of the airport zoning commission shall serve without compensation except that compensation provided to them by virtue of their service as planning commissioners.

§ 2.29.050. Chairperson.¶
The chairperson of the planning commission shall also serve concurrently as chairperson of the airport zoning commission.

§ 2.29.060. Meetings, quorum and procedure.¶
The commission shall adhere to the same adopted rules and regulations that govern the planning commission. Special meetings may be held apart from the planning commission providing notice is given according to provisions contained in the Government Code of the state. A majority of the regular members shall constitute a quorum. All meetings shall be held in the Council Chambers of the City Hall. All meetings of the commission and all hearings required to be held by the commission shall be public.

§ 2.29.070. Secretary and minutes.¶
The secretary to the planning commission shall serve also as secretary to the airport zoning commission. He or she shall maintain accurate minutes of the activities of the commission apart from the minutes of the planning commission. Minutes shall include the following subject matter:
A. The time and place of each meeting of the commission;
B. The names of the commissioners present;
C. All official acts of the commission;
D. The votes given by commissioners except when the action is unanimous;
E. A summary of all proceedings before the commission. All minutes shall be reduced to writing and presented to the commission at its next regular meeting for approval, amendment or correction. The minutes or true copies thereof shall be open to public inspection. Copies of the minutes shall be furnished to the city council, members of this commission, and any other public official requiring them.

§ 2.29.080. Duties and responsibilities.¶
The duties and responsibilities of the airport zoning commission shall be to safeguard the public health, public safety, and general welfare through the appropriate exercise of the police power of the city to identify airport hazard areas as defined in Government Code Section 50485.1, and to establish appropriate airport zoning regulations for such airport hazard areas to regulate and restrict the height to which structures and trees may be erected or allowed to grow and to prevention of the creation or establishment of new airport hazards as well as the elimination, removal, alteration, mitigation, or marking and lighting of existing airport hazards.
