2.60.010 - Civil service commission created—Terms of office.

There shall be a civil service commission consisting of five qualified electors of the county, who shall hold no other public office of profit. The commissioners shall be appointed by the board of supervisors. Each supervisor shall nominate one commissioner. The board may reject such nominee, whereupon the supervisor making the nomination may nominate another person until one acceptable to the board is appointed. The term of office of all commissioners shall coincide with the terms of the respective members of the board of supervisors nominating them. Any appointments to fill a vacancy shall be for the remainder of the unexpired term. No commissioner who has served any portion of two successive four terms shall be eligible for reappointment until a full four year term has elapsed since the expiration of his last term. Each commissioner shall serve until his successor is appointed and qualified.

2.60.020 - Commissioners—Removal.

The board of supervisors by a four-fifths vote of all the members, may remove a commissioner at any time.

2.60.030 - Organization of commission.

The commission shall elect one of its members as chairman. It shall elect a chairman at the first meeting after the beginning of the term of any commissioner. The chairman shall call meetings of the commission as often as may be necessary, but at least one each month. Three commissioners shall constitute a quorum, provided that no action shall be taken without the affirmative vote of at least three members. The commission shall keep minutes of its proceedings and records of its examinations and shall make an annual report to the board of supervisors.

2.60.040 - Duties.

It shall be the function and duty of the civil service commission to discharge those functions and duties prescribed for said commission by the charter of the county, this chapter, Chapter 3.08 of this code, Chapter 3.12 of this code, and the rules, regulations and resolutions of the board of supervisors adopted pursuant to the provisions of any such chapters.
