2.28.010 - County counsel.¶
Pursuant to the authority vested in the board of supervisors by Sections 27640 et seq. of the Government Code of the state and the Charter of the county, there is established pursuant thereto the office of county counsel. The holder thereof shall discharge all duties which may now or hereafter be vested in such office by the laws of the state, the Charter of the county, and the ordinances and resolutions of the board of supervisors.

2.28.020 - Public guardian—Created.¶
Pursuant to the authority vested in the board of supervisors by Section 27430 of the Government Code of the state, there is established pursuant thereto the office of public guardian of the county.

2.28.030 - Public guardian—Appointed.¶
Pursuant to the authority vested in the board of supervisors by virtue of Section 27432(c) of the Government Code of the state, the county mental health director of the county is appointed public guardian of the county.

2.28.040 - Public guardian—Jurisdiction.¶
The public guardian may apply for appointment as guardian in all cases which may now or hereafter be within the jurisdiction of that office by the laws of the state and the ordinances and resolutions of the board of supervisors.

2.28.050 - Public guardian—Bond.¶
The public guardian shall file an official master bond in such amount as may be fixed, from time to time, by the board of supervisors, which bond shall inure to the joint benefit of the several guardianship estates and the county.

2.28.053 - Reserved.¶
Editor's note— Ord. No. 13-026, § 1, adopted Dec. 3, 2013, repealed § 2.28.053, which pertained to the consolidation of the offices of public administrator and coroner and derived from Ord. 593, § 3, adopted in 1977. Section 2 of Ord. No. 13-026 states that the ordinance shall not be operative as to the duties or salaries of the offices affected until the commencement of new terms of office in January 2015.
2.28.055 - Public administrator and coroner and county health officer consolidated.¶
Pursuant to the authority vested in the board of supervisors by Section 14 of the Charter of the county, the duties of the public administrator and coroner and county health officer are consolidated into an office designated public administrator-coroner-county health officer, the duties of which shall be performed by one person elected in a manner prescribed by law. This section shall be repealed effective January 6, 2003.

2.28.060 - Public defender—Created.¶
Pursuant to the authority vested in the board of supervisors by Section 16 of the Charter of the county and Section 27700 et seq. of the Government Code of the state, there is established for the county the office of public defender.

2.28.070 - Public defender—Appointed.¶
The public defender shall be appointed pursuant to the provisions of Section 16 of the Charter of the county.

2.28.080 - Public defender—Duties.¶
The public defender shall have the qualifications and perform the duties which now are or which may hereafter be prescribed for such officer by the general laws of the state and the Charter and ordinances of the county.

2.28.100 - Probation department—Standards for recruitment and training of probation officers.¶
While receiving any state aid pursuant to Article 3, commencing with Section 6040 of the California Penal Code, the county will adhere to the standards for recruitment and training established by the board of corrections.
The Fresno County probation department training officer is named the county coordinator of recruitment and training established by the board of corrections.
