Chapter 12.68 — CANADA GOOSE BREEDING AREAS

Sec. 12.68.010. - Purpose.¶
The purpose of this chapter is to safeguard the breeding grounds of the Canada Goose (Branta canadensis), commonly known as "honkers," and all subspecies: Moffitt's Canada Goose (B.c. moffitti), Lesser Canada Goose (B.c. parvipes), Vancouver Canada Goose (B.c. fulva), Dusky Canada Goose (B.c. occidentalis), and Cackling Canada Goose (B.c. minima) at Emerald Bay, Lake Tahoe, California, by prohibiting boating in the bay and prohibiting access to the island therein by persons during the months of April and May each year.

Sec. 12.68.020. - Access to Fannette Island restricted.¶
No person shall approach within 200 feet of Fannette Island in Emerald Bay during the period of April 1 to the first Friday preceding Memorial Day inclusive of each year by any means including, but not limited to, vessels, boats or airplanes.

Sec. 12.68.030. - Disturbing nesting geese prohibited.¶
No person shall disturb nesting geese in Emerald Bay, Lake Tahoe, California, at any time, by any means whatsoever, during the period of April 1 to the first Friday preceding Memorial Day, inclusive, of any year.

Sec. 12.68.040. - Authority.¶
This chapter is adopted in cooperation with the State Department of Fish and Game and the Department of Park and Recreation and under the authority of Harbors and Navigation Code § 660 for special use areas.

Sec. 12.68.050. - Penalty for violation.¶
Any person who violates any of the provisions of this chapter is guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be punished according to the general penalties described in Chapter 1.24.
