Chapter 12.16 — DAMAGE TO ROADS

Sec. 12.16.010. - Injury by vehicles.¶
It is unlawful for any person to willfully, negligently or maliciously injure, damage or destroy any County road, highway, bridge or other road structure, or any forest road, bridge or other structure, by driving, operating or moving any vehicle, object or contrivance on, over or across the same.

Sec. 12.16.020. - Injury to pavement by horses.¶
Except as provided in this section, any person who rides, drives or leads any horse, mare, gelding, mule, jack or jenny, and any person who knowingly permits any horse, mare, gelding, mule, jack or jenny owned by him or her to be ridden, driven or led upon the oiled portion of any County highway within 45 days after the County highway has been newly paved and posted as required by this section is guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction, shall be punished by a fine not to exceed $500.00, or by imprisonment in the County jail for a term not to exceed six months, or by both such fine and imprisonment. This section shall not be construed to prohibit the riding of any horse at any time upon any portion of any County highway when necessary to drive livestock along the County highway. The Director of Transportation shall post signs at either end of a newly oiled portion of a County highway and at such other points along the newly oiled portion of the County highway as the Director of Transportation deems necessary. The signs shall read: "RIDING HORSES ON PAVEMENT PROHIBITED—Violators subject to fine and jail sentence—County Code Section 12.16.020." The Director of Transportation shall remove all such signs 45 days after such portion of the County highway has been paved.
