2.16.010 Established.

The position of city clerk is established by Government Code of the State of California, Section 36501. (Editorially amended during 1999 codification; Ord. 193 Att. B (part), 1998)

2.16.020 Election-Vacancies.

The position of city clerk is elected. Va- cancies in the elected office can be filled by the city council within thirty days of the va- cancy. If not appointed within thirty days, an election is required. The person appointed or elected to fill the vacancy holds office for the unexpired term of the vacating clerk. 2.16.030 Duties and responsibilities.

A. The duties and responsibilities of the city clerk are established and defmed into two categories. The first category is statutory as established in the California Government Code. The second category is additional du- ties assigned to the position by ordinance of the city council. B. Additional Duties-City's Business and Administrative Records. The city clerk shall be responsible for the verification, in cooperation with the city administrator and 15 finance director, to the city council of the proper receipt, processing, storage and main- tenance of the records of the city's business.
