2.15.010 - Office established.¶
The City of Commerce has created and established the office of director of public works and development services.

2.15.020 - Qualifications.¶
In selecting the person to be appointed as director of public works and development services, the city administrator shall require sufficient training, skill, certification, and experience to be proficient in the office. The city administrator shall also require evidence of substantial executive ability.

2.15.030 - Powers and duties.¶
The director of public works and development services shall be the head of the public works and development services department and shall have the power and shall be required, under the direction and control of the city administrator to plan, direct, manage, and oversee the activities and operations of the public works and development services department including streets, sewer, water, storm drains, traffic signals, street lights, street trees, median maintenance, engineering, construction, traffic engineering, inspections, permitting, environmental services, city facilities, planning, building and safety, economic development and housing.

2.15.040 - City engineer.¶
The director of public works and development services shall serve as the City Engineer for the City of Commerce. In this capacity, the director of public works and development services, or his or her designee, is a registered civil engineer, and shall perform and supervise all civil engineering done by the city in its corporate capacity not otherwise provided for by law and undertake all duties delegated to her or him by the city council and by law.
