7-6.1 Health Officers Duties.¶
Pursuant to Health and Safety Code Section 476, the City Council hereby requests that the Health Officer of the County of Lake perform the duties prescribed by Health and Safety Code Sections 1900 et seq., relating to rabies control. (Ord. #41, A7, S1)
7-6.2 Rabies Treatment and Eradication Fund.¶
There is hereby established a Rabies Treatment and Eradication Fund for the City of Clearlake. Pursuant to Health and Safety Code Sections 1910 et seq., all monies collected for dog licenses or other animal control fees shall be deposited in the fund. This fund shall be used to defray the cost of a rabies control program in this City, including the dog licensing program and its enforcement and the impoundment of stray animals belonging to those species which are susceptible to rabies. 7-6.3 Rabies Vaccination Required.¶
It shall be unlawful for any person to keep, harbor or control any dog over the age of four (4) months if such dog has not been vaccinated as provided herein. (Ord. #41, A7, S3)
7-6.4 Vaccination Required for License.¶
The Animal Control Officer shall not issue license tags for any dog until it has been vaccinated with an anti-rabies vaccine, administered by a licensed veterinarian. (Ord. #41, A7, S4)
7-6.5 Knowledge of Rabid Animal or Carcass.¶
Any person having knowledge of the whereabouts of an animal or the carcass of an animal known to have or suspected of having rabies shall immediately notify the Animal Control Officer. It shall be unlawful for any person having such information to refuse to disclose the same after demand therefor by the County Health Officer, Animal Control Officer or their deputies. 7-6.6 Notification of County Health Officer.¶
When notified of the whereabouts of such an animal the Animal Control Officer shall notify the County Health Officer. The Animal Control Officer will thereafter follow the directions of the Health Officer with respect to impoundment, observation and disposition of the animal. (Ord. #41, A7, S6)
