Citrus Heights Municipal Code Div. 1 Purpose and Authority

This article shall be known as the "Citrus Heights Fire Prevention Code."

The chief building official of the city (also referred to as "building official") is designated to be the authority having jurisdiction of the Citrus Heights building codes. The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District Fire Marshal is designated to be the authority having jurisdiction of the Citrus Heights Fire Prevention Code. The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District Fire Marshal, or their designee, or the chief building official of the City, shall administer, enforce, and render interpretations of the provisions of the Citrus Heights Fire Prevention Code, and shall, upon application and after receipt of proper documentation as required under this chapter, grant permits for the construction, alteration, maintenance, and moving of all buildings and structures within this jurisdiction.

Subject to additions, amendments, or deletions set forth in Section 38-30 of this chapter, the 2025 California Fire Code, Part 9, (hereinafter referred to as the "Citrus Heights Fire Prevention Code") Title 24 of the California Code of Regulations (hereinafter referred to as the "State Code"), incorporating the International Fire Code, 2024 Edition, as published by the International Code Council, and Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District Ordinance 2025-02, are hereby adopted and incorporated by reference herein. Except as otherwise provided by this chapter, the provisions thereof shall be controlling within the limits of the City of Citrus Heights. One copy of the California Fire Code and one copy of Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District Ordinance 2025-02 shall be kept on file in the community development department and shall be available for use and examination by the public.
