Sec. 68-1. - Purpose.¶
The reserve police force will assist the police department by supplementing the police department, particularly during busy times such as weekends and holidays. reserve police officers also play a critical role assisting the police department during major incidents such as large public demonstrations or natural disasters, and play a vital role assisting with community and city events.

Sec. 68-2. - Creation and establishment.¶
The Citrus Heights Reserve Police Force is hereby created and established as an organization composed of officers to assist the Citrus Heights Police Department in the prevention and detection of crime and the general enforcement of the laws of California and local ordinances.

Sec. 68-3. - Rules and regulations.¶
The chief of police shall have complete authority and control over the reserve force. The chief of police has the authority to establish rules and regulations governing the reserve force and its members, as may be necessary to carry out the express intent of this chapter. The authority of the chief of police includes, but is not limited to, providing for rules regarding discipline and assignment of members to perform police duties, and the recruitment and dismissal of members.

Sec. 68-4. - Size of reserve force.¶
The chief of police may increase or decrease the number of members in the reserve force.

Sec. 68-5. - Status as a peace officer.¶
Every member of the reserve force shall have the status as a peace officer as provided by Penal Code §§ 830.6(a) and 832.6. The chief shall have the authority to designate members of the reserve force, pursuant to Penal Code § 830.6(a)(2), and those members shall have the full powers and duties of a peace officer as provided by Penal Code § 830.1.
