Chowchilla Municipal Code Ch. 12.12 Numbering of Buildings

It shall be the duty of the building inspector to designate the number or numbers to be established in conformity with the provisions of this chapter, which number, when established by the building inspector, shall be the official number of the particular property in connection with which such number has been established.

For the purposes of this chapter only, the business district is designated as that area described in Blocks 15, 16, 27, 28, 39, 40, 51, 52, 63 and 64 and the one-half Blocks of 75 and 76 facing Robertson Boulevard of the city, extending to the outside street boundaries surrounding such area.

For the purposes of this chapter only, all the area not included in Section 12.12.020, but within the corporate limits of the city, is designated as the residential district.

All building numbers shall start from the intersection of Front Street and Robertson Boulevard.

A. All streets running northerly from Robertson Boulevard shall be designated as north.

B. All streets running southerly from Robertson Boulevard shall be designated as south.

C. All streets running westerly from Front Street shall be designated as west.

D. All streets running easterly from Front Street shall be designated as east.

A. The north side of Robertson Boulevard shall bear even numbers, and the same system shall apply to the north side of all streets running parallel to Robertson Boulevard.

B. The south side of Robertson Boulevard shall bear odd numbers and the same system shall apply to the south side of all streets running parallel to Robertson Boulevard.

C. The east side of Front Street running northerly from Robertson Boulevard shall bear even numbers and the same system shall apply to the east side of all streets running parallel to Front Street and north of Robertson Boulevard.

D. The west side of Front Street running northerly from Robertson Boulevard shall bear odd numbers, and the same system shall apply to all streets running parallel to Front Street and north of Robertson Boulevard. The east side of Front Street running southerly from Robertson Boulevard shall bear odd numbers, and the same system shall apply to the east side of all streets running parallel to Front Street and south of Robertson Boulevard.

E. The west side of Front Street running southerly from Robertson Boulevard shall bear even numbers and the same system shall apply to all streets running parallel to Front Street and south of Robertson Boulevard.

The business district shall bear a number for each twelve and one-half feet. All other areas shall bear a number every twenty-five feet.

It shall be the duty of the building inspector to notify the owner or person in possession, of the number assigned to any house, store or other building. Such owner or person in possession shall, within thirty days after such notice, place thereon and continuously maintain the number established for such property. Such number shall be placed in such position as to be plainly visible from the public street, boulevard, court or alley upon which such property fronts. Any number other than the official number established under the provisions of this chapter, if any such exists on or about such property, shall be removed forthwith by the owner or the person then in possession of such property.

A record of the number assigned under the provisions of this chapter shall be kept in the office of the building inspector in the city hall or other public building maintained by the city, which records shall be available for inspection to all persons interested therein.
