Calexico Municipal Code Ch. 5.12 Payment of License Fees

All licenses shall be paid in advance, in legal currency of the United States, at the office of the city clerk.

The license required to be paid by the provisions of Chapters 5.04 through 5.24 shall be due and payable from and after the first day of October, 1944.

The first license issued to any person, firm or corporation to operate any business shall be issued for the full period provided for in Chapters 5.04 through 5.24. The charge for the license for the next succeeding period, except daily licenses, shall be equal to the earned portion of the first license for the same business calculated from the first day the business is operated to the last day of the license period in which said license is issued, but shall in no event be less than twenty-five percent of the amount of the license for the full period provided for in Chapters 5.04 through 5.24.

All annual licenses provided in Chapters 5.04 through 5.24 shall be due and payable to the city on the first day of January of each year, unless specifically provided otherwise in said chapters.

A. All quarterly licenses provided in this title shall be due and payable to the city on the first days of January, April, July and October of each year.

B. Any person, firm or corporation desiring to do so may pay for and procure all four quarterly licenses at the time the first quarterly license becomes due and payable under the provisions of Chapters 5.04 through 5.24.

A. All monthly licenses provided in this title shall be due and payable on the first day of each month, in advance, from all persons who have for the previous month been licensed to carry on the same business, show, exhibition or game.

B. For all persons who have not been licensed for the previous month to carry on the same business, show, exhibition or game, the license shall be due and payable and must be procured by such persons before commencing to carry on such business, show, exhibition or game.

All daily and weekly licenses provided in Chapters 5.04 through 5.24 shall be due and payable to the city in advance.

A. No greater or lesser amount of money shall be charged or received for any license than is provided for in Chapters 5.04 through 5.24.

B. No license shall be sold or issued for any period of time other than is provided in this title.

A. License Regulations. A separate license must be obtained for each branch establishment or separate place of business in which the business, show, exhibition or game is given or carried on. Each license shall authorize the party obtaining it to carry on, pursue, or conduct only that business, show, exhibition or game described in such license and which is indicated thereby.

B. License Computation. Where a license is imposed in this title upon any business, show, exhibition or game and the number of persons employed or the gross receipts of such business is made the basis for fixing the amount of such license, a separate license tax shall be paid for each branch establishment or place of business in which the business, show, exhibition or game is carried on, based upon the number of persons employed in, or the gross receipts of, each such branch establishment or separate place of business.
