18.16.010 Survey—Required.¶
An accurate and complete survey shall be made of any land for which a subdivision application is filed. All surveys shall be based upon a field survey made in conformity with the Land Surveyors Act. (Ord. 89-2 § 2, 1989; Ord. 66 NS § 6.1(a), 1950; prior code § 20-26(a).)
18.16.020 Monuments—Criteria generally.¶
A. At the time of making the survey for the final map or parcel map, the engineer or surveyor shall set sufficient durable monuments to conform with the standards described in Section 8771 of the Business and Professions Code so that another engineer or surveyor may readily retrace the survey. He shall also set such additional monuments as may be required by the City Engineer.
B. Within five days after the final setting of all monuments has been completed, the engineer or surveyor shall give written notice to the subdivider and to the City Engineer, that the final monuments have been set. (Ord. 89-2 § 2, 1989; Ord. 66 NS § 6.2(b), 1950; prior code § 20-27(c).)
18.16.030 Monuments—Tied into survey.¶
All monuments, property lines, centerlines of streets, alleys and easements adjoining or within the subdivision shall be tied into the survey and shall be shown on any subdivision or record of survey maps filed with the City for approval and recordation. (Ord. 89-2 § 2, 1989; Ord. 66 NS § 6.1(d), 1950; prior code § 20-26(d).)
18.16.040 Monuments—Location for street lines.¶
On all interior street lines and exterior boundaries which are street lines of the subdivision, the engineer or surveyor shall set monuments in the street areas, preferably on the street centerline, and located so as to determine the street lines bounding each block. Due consideration shall be given to visibility of monuments one from another, for the purpose intended. (Ord. 89-2 § 2, 1989; Ord. 66 NS § 6.2(b), 1950; prior code § 10-27(d).)
18.16.050 Monuments—Time for and method of setting.¶
Monuments may be set after approval of the final map, but not later than the time of completion of subdivision improvements, provided a cash deposit or approved bond in an amount set by the City is filed with the City, guaranteeing such work. At least one exterior boundary line of the land being subdivided must be adequately monumented or referenced before the map is recorded. Interior monuments need not be set at the time the map is recorded, provided that the engineer or surveyor certifies on the map that the monuments will be set on or before a specified later date (but not later than the date of completion of the subdivision improvements), and provided that the subdivider furnishes to the City an adequate security guaranteeing the payment of the cost of setting such monuments. (Ord. 89-2 § 2, 1989; Ord. 66 NS § 62(b), 1950; prior code § 20-27(e) and (f).)
18.16.060 Monuments—Inspection and approval by City.¶
All monuments, and their location, shall be subject to inspection and approval by the City Engineer. (Ord. 89-2 § 2, 1989; Ord. 66 NS § 6.2(b), 1950; prior code § 20-27(g).)
