§ 2.24.010. Establishment of Redevelopment Agency.

A. Creation of Redevelopment Agency. The Community Redevelopment Law, as provided in the California Health and Safety Code Sections 33000, et seq., stated that "There is in each community a public body, corporate and politic, known as the Redevelopment Agency of the community." It is the intention and declaration of the City Council to proceed under said law.

B. Declaration of Need. The City Council hereby finds and declares that there is a need for a Community Redevelopment Agency to function in the City of Bellflower pursuant to the provisions of the Community Redevelopment Law.

§ 2.24.020. Appointment of Agency.

Pursuant to Section 33200 of the California Health and Safety Code of California, the City of Bellflower hereby declares itself to be the Redevelopment Agency and finds that this action will serve the public interest and promote the public safety and welfare in an effective manner. All the rights, powers, duties, privileges and immunities, as provided by law, shall be vested in the City Council.

§ 2.24.030. Eminent Domain.

The City Council is hereby directed to prohibit the exercise of the powers of eminent domain for residentially-zoned properties for redevelopment projects.
