8.42.010 Application.

A. The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection is required under Government Code Section 51178 to identify levels of fire hazard based on consistent statewide criteria and the expected severity of fire hazards.

B. The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection has recommended certain areas within the city be classified as very high fire hazard severity zones. (Ord. 5195 § 1, 2025)

8.42.020 Designation of Zones.

A. The city hereby designates the Fire Hazard Severity Zones as recommended by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection pursuant to Government Code Section 51178.

B. The areas identified on the very high fire hazard severity zone map published by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection shall be subject to the requirements under Government Code Sections 51175 through 51188, as well as any additional requirements as may be established by city or state law. 8.42.030 Enforcement.

A. The Bakersfield fire department is authorized to enforce the provisions of this chapter and the provisions of Government Code Sections 51175 through 51188, as well as any additional requirements as may be established by city or state law.

The map, approved by the city, is hereby incorporated by reference, and entitled “City Fire Hazard Severity Zones.”
