2.56.010 Authority to accept property for museum or gallery¶
purposes—Use of city property.
The city may accept title to real property for museum or art gallery purposes, or may permit the erection of buildings and improvements for such purposes on lands owned by said city. (Prior code § 5.28.010)
2.56.020 Donations of property or buildings to city—Delegation of¶
management and operation to donor, his or her successor or board of trustees.
Whenever any donations of real property has been made to the city for museum or art gallery purposes, or any building or improvements therefor have been erected upon public lands by an individual or corporation without cost to the city, the city council may delegate the management, operation, maintenance and regulation thereof to the donor or his or her successors, or to boards of trustees or directors nominated by the donor and appointed by the city council, upon such terms and conditions as the city council may prescribe. 2.56.030 Regulations governing operation—Admission¶
charges—Records—Policy decisions.
Whenever the city council delegates the management operation, maintenance and regulation of any museum or art gallery as authorized by Section 2.56.020, the following requirements shall apply:
A. All members of the public shall be admitted to the gallery or museum at reasonable times, which times shall be specifically set forth in an agreement approved by the city council;
B. No charges for admission to the gallery or museum shall be made other than such charges as may be determined to be necessary to defray the cost of operation and maintenance of the gallery or museum; all accounts and financial records relating to the operation, management or maintenance of the gallery or museum shall be subject to such inspection and audit as may be directed by the council;
C. Policies governing the management, operation, maintenance or regulation of the gallery or museum shall be consistent with the lease agreement approved by the council. (Ord. 3247 § 1, 1989; prior code § 5.28.030)
2.56.040 Appropriation and expenditure of funds—Additional powers of¶
council.
The council of the city may appropriate and expend funds for the improvement, operation, expansion and support of any such art gallery or museum, and shall have, in addition to the powers set forth in this chapter, any other power necessary and proper to promote the objects and purposes of a museum or gallery as more fully set forth and expressed in Sections 5120 to 5132, inclusive, of said Public Resources Code, being Division 5, Chapter 2, Article 2 of said Code. (Prior code § 5.28.040)
