2.06.010 Creation of city council appointed position entitled chief assistant¶
city attorney.
A. Pursuant to the Bakersfield City Charter Section 34, this chapter is hereby added to create a new city council appointed position in the city entitled chief assistant city attorney.
B. Such position will be by appointment and retained by the city council through a written contract.
C. The chief assistant city attorney shall serve at the pleasure of the city council and shall not be a member of any city bargaining unit.
D. When the current city attorney leaves office, the chief assistant city attorney will be the next city attorney, unless terminated pursuant to contract.
E. The ordinance codified in this chapter shall sunset and be automatically repealed when the current city attorney leaves office. (Ord. 5212 § 1, 2026)
