Sec. 18-926. - Definitions.

The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

Repossessor means any person licensed by the state to provide repossession services within the meaning of Business and Professions Code § 7500.2 and also means any employee or agent of such person.

Sec. 18-927. - Registration.

Any repossessor performing such services within the city shall register his name and the names of his employees or agents and shall file a copy of the licensee's and employees' identification cards, as described in Business and Professions Code § 7506.9, with the chief of police prior to performing any repossession services within the city.

Sec. 18-928. - Required reports.

(a) Before repossession. Any repossessor performing such services within the city shall file a report of repossession with the city police department prior to carrying out a repossession. The report of repossession shall contain the following information:

(1) Name and address of the person currently in possession of property to be repossessed.

(2) Location where the repossession is to be carried out.

(3) Date and time of the report.

(4) Name of the licensee and person who will carry out the repossession.

(5) Description of the personal property to be repossessed, including but not limited to brand name, model, serial number, license number and color.

(6) Signature of the licensee or employee who will carry out the repossession.

(b) After repossession. Within one hour after the repossession is completed, the repossessor shall notify the police department that the repossession was completed and the date, time and location of the repossession.
