Antioch Municipal Code Ch. 5 Plumbing Code

(A) The California Plumbing Code, 2022 Edition, based on the 2021 Uniform Plumbing Code, published by the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials, as adopted and amended by the California Building Standards Commission in the California Building Standards Code, Title 24 of the California Code of Regulations, is hereby adopted by reference. Copies are on file in the offices of the Building Official.

(B) In addition, The California Plumbing Code, 2022 Edition, Section 1210.18 shall include the following, “All new single and multiple family dwelling construction shall be equipped with an Earthquake-Actuated Gas Shutoff Valve installed as per this code”.

It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to erect, construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, improve, remove, convert, demolish, equip, use or maintain any plumbing or permit the same to be done in violation of this code. Penalties may include citation or doubling of original permit fee.

All plumbing work performed in residential dwellings and apartment buildings shall be determined by the latest edition of the City's Master Fee Resolution. Commercial work shall be calculated by the square foot method based upon the cost of providing inspection service for the work being performed.

The Chief Building Official is hereby authorized and directed to enforce and administer all the provisions of this chapter, all the provisions of said Plumbing Code, and any other regulations which he is directed by proper authority, law, or ordinance to enforce.

Any person violating any of the provisions of this chapter or said Plumbing Code shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and punishable according to §§ 1-2.01 et seq. of this code.

Section 103.3 of said Code is hereby amended to read as follows:

The 1994 ICBO/IAMPO Plumbing Code is amended to establish a Board of Appeals. In order to determine the suitability of alternate materials, types of construction and to provide reasonable interpretations of the provisions of this Code, the Board of Administrative Appeals may be utilized to resolve differences of policy as defined by this Code.
