2.47.010 - Established.

There is established the planning department of the city.

2.47.020 - Functions.

The functions of the planning department shall include:

A.

Coordinate and supervise the city's planning, zoning, and land use activities;

B.

Enforcing, through the appropriate officers or employees of the city, the laws, rules and regulations relating to planning, zoning and land use;

C.

Enforcing, through the appropriate officers or employees of the city, the laws, codes, standards, rules and regulations relating to the construction, alteration, occupation, and demolition of buildings;

D.

Coordinate and supervise the city's housing and community development programs;

E.

Provide necessary assistance to the planning commission in the performance of its functions;

F.

Performing such other duties and functions as hereinafter may be prescribed or required by the city manager.

2.47.030 - Director.

The planning department shall be headed by a director of planning appointed by the city manager and shall be responsible for the direction and control of all functions assigned to that department. The director shall serve as the secretary to the planning commission. The planning department shall be organized, maintained and operated by the director of planning under the general administrative direction of the city manager.
