Chapter 2.46 — BUILDING DEPARTMENT

There is established the building department of the city.

The functions of the building official shall include:

A.

Checking plans and specifications for compliance with state law and existing building code;

B.

Issuing building and construction permits;

C.

Enforcing applicable laws, rules and regulations relating to building and construction;

D.

Enforcing the laws, rules, and regulations relating to the alteration, occupation, and demolition of buildings and land use.

The building department shall be headed by the building official appointed by the city manager. He shall be responsible for the direction and control of all functions assigned to that department and shall be the chief electrical inspector and shall be responsible for the discharge of duties pertaining thereto. The building department shall be organized, maintained and operated by the building official under the general administrative direction of the city manager.
