Sec. 24-1. - Transfer of duties of city assessor and city tax collector; abolishment of…¶
Pursuant to the provisions of sections 51500 et seq. of the Government Code of the state, the city, by and through its city council, does hereby elect that the duties of assessing property and collecting taxes provided by law to be performed by the assessor and the tax collector of the city, shall be performed by the county assessor and the county tax collector, and all assessments made by the county assessor, as the same may be equalized or corrected by the board of supervisors of the county or the state board of equalization, shall be used as a basis for the levy of the taxes of the city, and such taxes shall be collected by the assessor and tax collector of the county at the same time and in the same manner and subject to the same provisions of law as county taxes.
All duties other than the assessing of property heretofore performed by the city assessor shall be transferred to and performed by the city clerk, and all duties other than the collection of taxes heretofore performed by the city tax collector shall be transferred to and performed by the chief of police, and the offices of city assessor and city tax collector are hereby abolished.
