Alameda Municipal Code § 6-27 Storage, Sale and Preparation of Food and Beverages

It shall be unlawful for any person to offer, sell, or keep for sale in the City any unsound, diseased, or unwholesome fruit, vegetables or other market produce, or any adulterated article of food.

It shall be unlawful for any person in the City to keep any of the articles of food herein mentioned which are in an unwholesome condition, in the same room with any other food.

No person shall keep or expose for sale in the City any fruits, meats, vegetables, or other produce unless the same are kept in boxes or cases covered with flypaper covers, or kept on racks, counters, shelves, hooks, or stands so as to be placed at least two (2) feet above the floor of the store or place where the articles are exposed for sale.

It shall be unlawful to peddle by hand or from a vehicle, or sell from other than a fixed place of business, any meat, meat food products, seafood or dressed poultry, except that such activities may be allowed: with approval of a conditional use permit at the following locations: the former Naval Air Station at Alameda Point, the College of Alameda property, the South Shore Shopping Center, the Marina Village and Harbor Bay Business Parks, and Corica Park; or with the approval of a sidewalk vending permit in conformance with Article XX of Chapter VI of this Code; or with the approval of a special event permit or encroachment permit.
