Sec. 5-18.01. - Purpose.

The purpose of this chapter is to prevent the occurrence of retail sales and display of merchandise in motel or hotel rooms or suites designed primarily for sleeping. The City Council finds that:

(a) Such activities increase demand for parking beyond that provided for motel or hotel rooms, creating hazards associated with congestion; and

(b) Such activities constitute a different occupancy group than do motel and hotel rooms designed for sleeping as defined by Building and Fire Codes for public safety.

Sec. 5-18.02. - Prohibition.

It shall be unlawful for any person to display for sale or sell merchandise within any motel or hotel room or suite designed primarily for sleeping.

Sec. 5-18.03. - Violation.

Any person violating the provisions of Section 5-18.02 shall be deemed guilty of an infraction and shall be subject to the penalty provisions of Chapter 2 of Title 1 of the Yuba City Municipal Code.
