9.32.010 - Unlawful acts.

(a) It is unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to distribute or cause to be distributed in the city, any handbill, or any printed or written advertising matter by placing or causing the same to be placed in any automobile, or in any yard, or on any porch, or in any mail box in the city, not in possession or under the control of the person so distributing the same.

(b) It is unlawful to attach any handbill or any printed or written advertising matter by any means, or in any manner, to any doorknob or latch on any outside door of any dwelling house or apartment house in the city, not in the possession or under the control of the person so attaching the same, or on any doorknob or latch on any outside screen door of such dwelling house or apartment house by any means or in any manner.

(c) It is unlawful to attach any handbill or any printed or written advertising matter by any means, or in any manner, to any part of any dwelling house or apartment house in the city, not in the possession or under the control of the person attaching the same, or to place the same between any outside screen door and the corresponding outside door of such dwelling house or apartment house.

(d) It is unlawful to place any handbill or any printed or written advertising matter by any means or in any manner between any doorknob or latch of any outside door, and any part of the frame surrounding any such door of any dwelling house or apartment house in the city, not in the possession or under the control of the person placing the same, or to place such handbill or printed or written advertising matter between any outside screen door and any part bf the frame surrounding such outside screen door of any such dwelling house or apartment house.

9.32.020 - Applicability of chapter.

(a) The provisions of this chapter do not apply to any newspaper, or any publication printing news of a general nature and keeping advertising space therein open to the public, and the publishing of general advertising matter therein.

(b) The provisions of this chapter do not apply to any legal notices permitted or required by law to be posted upon or affixed to any part of any dwelling house or apartment house in the city, or cards advertising such dwelling house or apartment house for sale, or that the same, or some portion thereof is for rent.

9.32.030 - Penalty for violation.

Any person, firm or corporation, violating any of the provisions of this chapter is guilty of a misdemeanor, and on conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine not exceeding five hundred dollars or by imprisonment for a period not exceeding six months, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
