9.10.010 - Authorization.

This chapter is enacted pursuant to Section 19 of Article 4 of the Constitution of the state of California and is authorized by Penal Code Section 326.5.

9.10.020 - Bingo game defined.

As used in this chapter, "bingo" means the game of chance in which prizes are awarded on the basis of designated numbers or symbols on a card which conform to numbers or symbols selected at random.

9.10.030 - Conduct of bingo games by nonprofit corporations or other exempt organizations.

It is lawful for any organization exempt from the payment of the Bank and Corporations Tax by Sections 23701a, 23701b, 23701d, 23701e, 23701f, 23701g, and 237011 of the Revenue and Taxation Code, and by mobile home park associations and senior citizens organizations, to conduct bingo games within the city; provided, that the proceeds of such games are used only for charitable purposes, that any such organization obtains a license to conduct the same from the city manager, and that said bingo game or games are conducted in accordance with this chapter and any applicable laws of the state.

9.10.040 - Application for license.

Any organization qualified to conduct a bingo game may make application to the city manager for a permit to conduct such game or games during any calendar year upon submission of an application on a form to be prescribed by the city manager, together with a license fee to be set by resolution. The city manager may require such verification as may be necessary to establish the organization's exemption status as set forth in Section 9.10.030. Upon verification of the same the city manager shall issue a license to the organization to conduct bingo games within the city for the calendar year in which the application is made.
