§ 19.45.010. Commercial sign—General provisions.¶
A "commercial sign" is, for the purpose of this chapter, defined as any sign, except for a subdivision directional or real estate sign, in a commercial zoning district which directs attention to the name of a business or profession, or to a commodity or service, sold or offered, located upon the premises where the sign is located. A sign can be of any type or combination of two or more types, as provided in this chapter, not to exceed the total area calculation for the property. Under no circumstances shall all signs taken in aggregate for any single parcel exceed two hundred fifty square feet in sign area.

§ 19.45.020. Where permitted.¶
Commercial signs are permitted in any commercial zoning district.

§ 19.45.030. Freestanding signs.¶
Freestanding commercial signs shall be permitted provided that:
A. Not more than one freestanding sign structure shall be permitted for each street frontage of any lot or parcel, or any group of lots or parcels occupied by a single building.
B. For a freestanding sign for a single business, profession, commodity or service, the sign area shall not exceed one square foot of sign area for each linear foot of street frontage occupied by the business profession, commodity or service (subject to the maximum limit in subsection E of this section).
C. For a freestanding sign for more than one business, profession, commodity or service, the sign area shall not exceed one square foot of sign area for each linear foot of building frontage occupied by the businesses, professions, commodities or services (subject to the maximum limit in subsection E of this section). The permitted sign area for each business may be combined in order to display a common designation applying to all businesses, professions, commodities and services within a building or shopping center.
D. No freestanding sign shall exceed a maximum height of twenty-five feet. If a pole sign, the bottom of the sign shall not be less than eight feet above the finished grade.
E. No single sign shall exceed one hundred square feet.

§ 19.45.040. Attached to or painted on walls, awnings or windows of buildings.¶
Commercial signs attached to or painted on the wall or windows of any building, or on awnings shall be allowed with a sign area not to exceed one square foot of sign area per lineal foot of street if the building solely occupies the parcel. If more than one building or business is located on a parcel, the calculation shall be based on one square foot of sign area per lineal foot of building frontage. Permitted signs shall be subject to the following:
A. The aggregate area of all such signs for any building shall not exceed one hundred fifty square feet.
B. No such sign shall extend above the roofline or, except for signs on awnings, extend over beyond the edge of the building.

§ 19.45.050. Automobile service stations.¶
In auto service stations, two signs, which may be freestanding, for the sole purpose of displaying the price of gasoline, with a sign area not exceeding twenty square feet each and with a height not exceeding twenty-five feet, shall be permitted in addition to other signs permitted in this chapter.
