§ 19.30.010. Required—Application.

Except as otherwise provided in this title, no sign or sign structure shall be erected, constructed, altered, relocated or maintained after the adoption of the ordinance codified in this title until a permit for it has been issued by the planning director/building official. Application for a sign permit shall be made in writing upon forms furnished by the planning director/building official. Such application shall contain the location by street and number of the proposed sign structure, name and address of the property owner or tenant and sign erector, sign plans, designs and specification, and such other application information as determined by the planning director/building official to be necessary or appropriate to ensure compliance with this title. Within thirty days after the filing of a complete sign permit application (or such longer time as agreed to by the applicant), the planning director/building official shall approve and issue the sign permit if the permit application complies with the standards and requirements of this title. Otherwise, the permit application shall be denied within that time period. For any building or grouping of buildings containing six or more business, office or other uses, an approved master sign program in accordance with Chapter 19.75 shall be required before applying for any sign permit for the building or group of buildings.

§ 19.30.020. Fees.

Any person applying for a sign permit shall, at the time of filing application, pay to the city a fee to cover processing, plan-checking, inspection and issuance of the permit in an amount as established by resolution of the city council.

§ 19.30.030. Exceptions.

The following types of signs shall not require a city sign permit:

A. Exempt signs as described in Section 19.10.070;

B. A-frame signs in compliance with Section 19.40.030;

C. Window signs in compliance with this title;

D. Temporary signs in compliance with, and authorized by a temporary sign permit issued pursuant to, Chapter 19.55.
