Sec. 17-147. - Emergency demolition.

Structures that are landmarks or included in historic districts that have been severely damaged as a result of an earthquake, fire, or other natural disaster, and which require immediate demolition because the

building presents an imminent threat to public safety, shall be exempt from the provisions of this article. A determination to demolish a structure on such grounds shall be made by the planning commission acting on the advice and recommendation of the public works director. In the absence of a quorum of the planning commission, such a determination may be made by the public works director, or the city manager, in consultation with any available members of the planning commission and the planning department.
