970-010 - LICENSE REQUIRED¶
It shall be unlawful for any person to operate or use a bicycle propelled wholly or in part by muscular power upon any streets, alley or public highways of the unincorporated area of the County of Sutter without first obtaining a license therefor.

970-020 - ISSUANCE OF LICENSE¶
The Sheriff of the County of Sutter is hereby authorized and directed to issue bicycle licenses upon written application therefor. Such licenses shall be issued commencing on October 1 of each year and shall be effective until and inclusive of September 30 of the following year.

970-030 - LICENSE STICKER PLATES¶
The County shall provide licenses together with registration cards therefor which shall have numbers stamped thereon in numerical order beginning with Number 1 and also the letters "Sutter County" imprinted thereon. The license shall be suitable for attachment on the frames of bicycles. A license shall be attached to the frame of each bicycle and a corresponding registration card shall be issued to the licensee. The license shall remain attached to the bicycle. The Sheriff shall keep a record of the date of issuance of each license, to whom issued and the number thereof.

970-040 - UNLAWFUL TO MUTILATE¶
It shall be unlawful for any person to willfully or maliciously mutilate or alter any license plate, seal or registration card which is operative. Provided, however, that nothing in this Chapter shall prohibit the stamping of numbers on the frames of bicycles on which no serial number can be found, or on which said number is illegible or insufficient for identification purposes.

970-050 - REPORTING SALE OF SECOND-HAND BICYCLES¶
All persons buying second-hand bicycles are hereby required to make a daily report to the Sheriff, giving the name and address of the person from whom each bicycle is purchased, the description of each bicycle purchased, the frame number thereof, and the number of the license found thereon, if any.

970-060 - VIOLATIONS—MISDEMEANOR¶
Any person who violates any provision of this Chapter shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fine not exceed five hundred ($500.00) or by imprisonment for not more than six months, or by both said fine and said imprisonment.
