CITY COUNCIL

Beginning with elections held after March, 2005, the general municipal election for the city council shall be held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November of each even-numbered year beginning November, 2006. (Ord. 04-3; prior code § 2.131)

Meetings of the city council shall be held in the Vintage Hall Board Room, 465 Main Street, St. Helena, which place the city council designates as its meeting place. (Ord. 11-8 § 1; prior code § 2.1)

A regular meeting of the city council shall be held at the time established by city council resolution on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. (Ord. 11-3 § 1; prior code § 2.2)

If a vacancy occurs on the city council, the council shall, within thirty (30) days from the commencement of the vacancy, either fill the vacancy by appointment or call a special election to fill the vacancy. The special election shall be held on the next regularly established election date not less than ninety (90) days from the call of the special election. A person appointed or elected to fill a vacancy holds office for the unexpired term of the former incumbent. (Ord. 93-17 § 1; prior code § 2.70)

Each member of the city council shall receive nine hundred fifty dollars ($950.00) each month as salary. (Ord. 23-3 § 3; prior code § 2.71)

Pursuant to the provisions of Section 33200 of the Health and Safety Code the city council declares itself to be the redevelopment agency and to have all the rights, powers, duties, privileges and immunities vested by law. (Prior code § 11A.3)
