The 2025 Edition of the California Building Standards Code, known as the California Code of Regulations, Title 24, Part 3, incorporating the National Electrical Code, 2023 Edition, published by the National Fire Protection Association and Annex H of the Electrical Code, with amendments set forth in Section 15.24.020, is hereby adopted. • A. Section 230.70(A)(1), Readily Accessible Location, is amended to read as follows:

Electrical disconnecting equipment in structures served by a remote or detached electrical service shall be readily accessible to firefighting personnel. The disconnecting equipment shall be installed on the exterior of the building and identified for firefighting personnel.

• B. Section 702.5, Transfer Equipment, is amended to read as follows:

Connection to premises wiring for buildings or well-pumps served by commercial power shall be made by means of a manual or automatic transfer switch. The transfer switch shall be listed and labeled to UL 1008, and shall comply with the provisions of this code, and Section 1204 of the California Fire Code. Interlock kits of any type shall be prohibited as a means of preventing inadvertent interconnection of normal and alternate power sources.
