9.36.010 - False alarm prohibited.¶
No person knowingly turn in a false alarm. This section does not prohibit a test of the system as permitted in advance by the police department.

9.36.020 - False alarm defined.¶
"False alarm" means an alarm signal activated by causes other than the purpose for which the alarm system is designed to detect. An alarm signal activated by violent conditions of nature or other extraordinary circumstances not subject to the control of the alarm owner shall not constitute a false alarm.

9.36.030 - Public nuisance alarms use and operation prohibited.¶
No alarm owner shall use or operate any alarm system classified as a public nuisance hereunder. For the purpose of this chapter, "public nuisance alarms" are those which generate more than one false alarm in any twelve-month period. These constitute a public nuisance due to the inordinate response time and risk attributable thereto.

9.36.040 - Alarm owner defined.¶
"Alarm owner" means the person who owns, leases, rents, uses or makes available for use by his agents, employees, representatives or family, any alarm system.

9.36.050 - Applicability.¶
Alarm systems covered by this chapter are all types of intrusion, robbery, fire, smoke, medical and vehicle alarms, however the alarm is transmitted.

9.36.060 - Alarm operation—Repair notification posting required.¶
For every alarm, the alarm owner or user thereof shall prominently post, on the exterior of the property, the names and telephone numbers of persons to be notified to render repairs when the alarm is operated, vehicle alarms excluded. An audible alarm shall automatically reset within ten minutes of it being activated.

9.36.070 - Corrective action.¶
On the first false alarm, a "False Alarm Notification Card" will be left at the location, describing the violation and specifying that a second and subsequent violation, within a twelve-month period, will result in the imposition of a fine. The fines shall be established by resolution of the city council.
