Editor's note— Section 2 of Ord. No. 1347, adopted Nov. 12, 2013, repealed the former Ch. 15.05 §§ 15.05.010—15.05.124, and enacted a new Ch. 15.06 as set out herein. The former Ch. 15.05 pertained to the 2010 California Residential Code, and derived from Ord. No. 1315, § 2, adopted Jan. 11, 2011. Subsequently, Ord. No. 1487, § 3, adopted October 28, 2025, repealed the former Ch. 15.06, §§ 15.06.010—15.06.080, and enacted a new Ch. 15.06 as set out herein. The former Ch. 15.06 pertained to similar subject matter and derived from Ord. No. 1347, § 2, adopted Nov. 12, 2013; Ord. No. 1380, § 2, adopted Nov. 8, 2016; Ord. Section R309.1 of the California 2025 Residential Code is amended to provide as follows:

"An automatic residential fire sprinkler system shall be installed in townhouses in accordance with accordance with Sierra Madre Municipal code Chapter 15.24."

The following is added to the end of Section R309.2 of the 2025 California Residential Code:

"An automatic residential fire sprinkler system shall be installed in one- and two-family dwellings in accordance with Sierra Madre Municipal code Chapter 15.24."

Section R309.3.1.1, of the California 2025 Residential Code exception 4 is amended to read as follows:

"Detached garages and carports in accordance with Sierra Madre Municipal code Chapter 15.24."

A new section R309.3.5 of the California 2025 Residential Code is added to the Residential code and shall be entitled "Water flow detector alarm." That section shall provide:

"Water supply."

"The flow of one sprinkler shall activate a water flow detector alarm that shall be audible on the exterior of the building."
