8.06.010 - Finding and purpose.¶
The city council finds and declares that the public health, safety, and welfare require the regulation of campfires within the city. For purposes of this section, "campfire" is defined, pursuant to the Public Resources Code of the State of California, as a fire which is used for cooking, personal warmth, lighting, ceremonial, or aesthetic purposes, including fires contained within outdoor fireplaces and enclosed stoves with flues or chimneys, stoves using jellied, liquid, solid, or gaseous fuels, portable barbecue pits and braziers, or space heating devices which are used outside any structure, mobile home, or living accommodation mounted on a motor vehicle. "Campfire" does not include portable lanterns designed to emit light resulting from a combustion process.

8.06.020 - Prohibited activities.¶
A. A person shall not light, maintain, or use a campfire upon any brush-covered land, grass-covered land, or forest-covered land which is the property of another person or entity, unless the person first obtains written authorization from the owner, lessee, or agent of the owner or lessee of the property, and when required, a valid burn/campfire permit issued by the agency having jurisdiction by law.
B. If, however, campsites or other designated special areas have been established by the property owner and posted as areas for campfires, a permit is not necessary.
