6-7-1: AUCTION BY CHIEF OF POLICE:¶
The Chief of Police shall from time to time hold a public auction at which lost or unclaimed property in the possession of the City may be sold to the highest bidder.
6-7-2: PROPERTY TO BE HELD SIX MONTHS:¶
Only those articles or items of lost or unclaimed property of which the City has had possession for a period of not less than six (6) months shall be sold at public auction.
6-7-3: NOTICE OF AUCTION:¶
The Chief of Police shall give notice of the holding of a public auction by one (1) publication of a notice thereof, at least five (5) days before the time fixed therefor, in a newspaper of general circulation in the City.
6-7-4: DISPOSITION OF RECEIPTS:¶
All funds realized at such public auction shall be delivered with an accounting thereof to the Treasurer who shall then deposit the funds in the General Fund of the City.
6-7-5: DISPOSAL OF UNSOLD PROPERTY:¶
Any item or article of lost or unclaimed property upon which no bid was made at public auction may be given away or destroyed at the option of the Chief of Police. (1963 Code)
