9-2-1: NUMBERING OF BLOCKS:

The numbering of the blocks in the city shall be based upon the following general plan:

Beginning in the southerly and southwesterly portions of the city, as hereinafter stated, the higher numbers shall be used successively as the numbering proceeds northerly and northeasterly; and beginning in the easterly and southeasterly portion of the city, as hereinafter stated, the higher numbers shall be used successively as the numbering proceeds westerly and northwesterly; the Southern Pacific Railroad being taken as the dividing line between the blocks numbered 1900 and the blocks numbered 2000, in the direction first above mentioned, and First Street being taken as the dividing line between the blocks numbered 1900 and the blocks numbered 2000, in the direction second above mentioned; the aforesaid plan of numbering being otherwise expressed as taking the railroad as a base line and using the higher numbers as the numbering proceeds northerly and northeasterly therefrom, and the lower numbers as the numbering proceeds southerly and southwesterly therefrom; and taking First Street (and McCall Avenue North from its intersection with First Street) as a base line and using the higher numbers as the numbering proceeds northwesterly from First Street and westerly from McCall Avenue North, and using the lower numbers as the numbering proceeds southeasterly and easterly therefrom.

The blocks between Park Street and Nebraska Avenue shall be numbered 1900; those between Park Street and Valley View Street shall be numbered 1800; the blocks between McCall Avenue South and Sheridan Street shall be numbered 2000; the blocks between Sheridan Street and Skelton Street shall be numbered 2100; the blocks between Skelton Street and Van Horn Street shall be numbered 2200; the blocks between Van Horn Street and Gaynor Street shall be numbered 2300; the blocks between Gaynor Street and Thompson Avenue shall be numbered 2400; all blocks west of Thompson Avenue shall be consecutively numbered with the numbers progressing higher as the numbering proceeds westerly; the block north of Nebraska Avenue shall be numbered 2000, and the numbering shall proceed in regular order, allowing 100 numbers for each block, except as herein otherwise stated, so that the blocks on the southwesterly side of the Southern Pacific Railroad and West Front Street shall be numbered 1900 as aforesaid, and the blocks on the northeasterly side of the railroad and East Front Street shall be numbered 2000, as aforesaid. Owing to the irregularity of the blocks and streets in the easterly portion of the city, all blocks between Tucker Street and Grove Street shall be numbered 2000; all blocks between Grove Street and Mill Street and along the alley between Grove Street and Locust Street to the intersection of Peach Street shall be numbered 2100; all blocks between Peach Street and East Street, and Block "A" and the southwesterly one-half (1/2) of Block "C" in Frey's Addition shall be numbered 2200; all blocks between East Street and Rose Avenue, and all of Block "B", the northeasterly one-half (1/2) of Block "C", all of Block "D", the Selma Lincoln Park, the fractional blocks numbered 1, 2 and 3, in Frey's Addition, and the corresponding portion of the property between Grange Avenue and the canal shall be numbered 2300; all blocks between Rose Avenue and Arrants Street shall be numbered 2400; and the block on the north side of Arrants Street shall be numbered 2500; thence north consecutively; the blocks between McCall Avenue South and West Front Street, excepting along Park Street, shall be numbered 1900; the blocks between McCall Avenue South and West Front Street along Park Street shall be numbered as follows: between McCall Avenue South and Otis Street shall be numbered 1900; between Otis Street and Sylvia Street shall be numbered 1800; between Sylvia Street and Whitson Street shall be numbered 1700; and between Whitson Street and West Front Street shall be numbered 1600.

The numbering from the easterly and southeasterly portions of the city toward the westerly and northwesterly portion thereof shall proceed so that the block on the northwesterly side of South Avenue, in South Park Addition, shall be numbered 1100, and all blocks on the west side of Olive Street shall be numbered 1400, and the numbering shall proceed thence consecutively where possible. Owing to the irregularities of blocks and streets, the fractional blocks between Locust Street and Orange Avenue shall be numbered 1500; also the block between Orange Avenue and Keith Street, and between Orange Avenue and Third Street, and between Orange Avenue and "C" Street, shall be numbered 1600; Fourth Street and Third Street in Whitson's Addition, and between Third Street in Cooper's Addition and Selma Street, and between "C" Street and "B" Street, and all of Block I in Cooper's Addition shall be numbered 1700; all blocks between Third Street and Second Street in Whitson's Addition, and between Selma Street and McCall Avenue, and between "B" Street and "A" Street, also Block "I" of the city and Cooper's Addition, shall be numbered 1800; all blocks between Second Street and First Street, and between "A" Street and McCall Avenue North shall be numbered 1900; thence the numbering shall proceed in regular succession, the portion of Walker Addition between Arrants Street and Stillman Street being numbered 2200, and between Stillman Street and Gaither Street shall be numbered 2300.
