Sec. 18-181. - Code adopted.

(a) That certain document, one copy of which is on file in the office of the city clerk, being the Uniform Code for the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings, 1997 edition, as amended, published by the International Conference of Building Officials, is adopted by reference and may be referred to as the "uniform code for the abatement of dangerous buildings" of the city to provide a just, equitable and practical method cumulative with and in addition to other remedies provided in the most current versions of the building code and the housing code, or any successor codes thereto, as adopted by the city, whereby buildings or structures, which from any cause endanger the life, limb, health, morals, property, safety or welfare of the general public or their occupants, may be required to be repaired, vacated or demolished.

(b) It shall be unlawful for any person to violate any provision or fail to comply with any of the requirements of the Uniform Code for the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings. It shall also be unlawful for any person to erect, construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, improve, remove, convert or demolish, equip, use, occupy or maintain any building or structure in the city, or cause the same to be done, contrary to or in violation of any provision of the Uniform Code for the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings adopted in this chapter, as such codes may be amended from time to time.

Sec. 18-182. - Short title.

Whenever the term "Uniform Code for the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings" or "dangerous buildings code" appears in this Code or in this chapter or any city ordinance, such phrases shall be deemed and construed to refer and apply to the Uniform Code for the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings as adopted and amended by this article.

Sec. 18-182.1. - Penalties.

Penalties for violation of any provision of this article or the code adopted herein shall be as set forth in chapter 1 of this Code.
