4-5.01 - Discharge of guns, weapons, and explosives prohibited.

It shall be unlawful for any person within the City to discharge any pistol, firearm, air gun, musket gun, or instrument of any kind, character, or description which throws or projects bullets or missiles of any kind to any distance by means of elastic force of air or any explosive substance. It shall be unlawful for any person to make, use, or have in his possession any slingshot or other instrument or device by which missiles of any kind or description are hurled or projected or in any manner use the same to the danger or annoyance of any person or injury to property in the City, except in a regularly and properly constructed shooting gallery.

4-5.02 - Violations nuisances.

The unlawful discharge of any of the guns, weapons, instruments, or devices prohibited and regulated by the provisions of this chapter, except in a regularly and properly constructed and licensed shooting gallery, or the making use of, or having in possession any slingshot or other similar instrument or device by which missiles of any description are hurled or projected shall be a nuisance. Any such gun, weapon, instrument, or device regulated by the provisions of this chapter and taken from the person unlawfully discharging or making use of it within the City or in such close proximity thereto that any bullet, pellet, or other missile therefrom shall terminate within the City shall be surrendered to the Chief of Police. Except upon a certificate of a judge of a court of record or the District Attorney that the preservation thereof is necessary and proper to the ends of justice, the Chief of Police shall annually, between July 1 and 10 each year, destroy all such surrendered guns, weapons, instruments, or devices or cause them to be destroyed to such extent that they shall be wholly and entirely ineffective and useless for the purpose for which they were manufactured or made. If any such gun, weapon, instrument, or device has been stolen and thereafter recovered from the thief or his transferee, the weapon shall not be destroyed but shall be restored to the lawful owner as soon as its use as evidence has been served and upon the owner's identification of such gun, weapon, instrument, or device and his ownership thereof.

4-5.03 - Carrying concealed weapons prohibited: Exceptions.

It shall be unlawful for any person to carry concealed upon his person, or concealed within any vehicle which is under his control or direction, any knife with a blade three (3″) inches or more in length; any spring-blade knife, regardless of the length of the blade; any ice pick or similar sharp stabbing tool; any straight-edge razor; any razor blade fitted to a handle; or any cutting, stabbing, or bludgeoning weapon or device capable of inflicting grievous bodily harm. The provisions of this section shall not apply to any licensed hunter or fisherman while engaged in hunting or fishing or while going to or returning from a hunting or fishing expedition.

4-5.04 - Using weapons prohibited.

It shall be unlawful for any person, except in self-defense, in the presence of any other person to draw or exhibit any knife or any of the weapons enumerated in Section 4-5.03 of this chapter in a rude, angry, or threatening manner or in any manner to unlawfully use the same in any fight or quarrel.
