Chapter 17.40 — D-R DRILL RESERVATION DISTRICT

§ 17.40.010. Purpose.

The purpose of the D-R district is to allow the designation of certain areas within the city where opportunities for exploration, development and production of natural gas are being reserved and encouraged as the specific and primary use. Upon proper request and application of a qualified party, it is city policy to establish D-R districts in corridors or islands in sufficient numbers so that the beneficial extraction of gas can continue within the city. It is city policy to establish D-R districts in an orderly and reasonable fashion as urbanizing areas are developed and gas resource reservation areas are identified. It is also city policy to establish D-R districts in all presently urbanized areas where natural gas operations are intended to be the primary use, such as where gas operations and wells are already established.

§ 17.40.020. Uses permitted.

Uses permitted are as follows:

  • A. Landscaping and buffer or screen planting;

  • B. Agricultural operations;

  • C. Any use permitted under Chapter 13.12, provided the requirements of said chapter are met. (Prior code Appendix B § 416(B))

§ 17.40.030. Maintenance responsibility.

All D-R district property shall be permanently maintained in a neat, safe and orderly condition by the owner.
