1.08.010 - Official seal.

The official seal of the city of Rialto shall bear the following inscription:

In the center thereof shall be inscribed the Rialto Bridge with the words "Bridge to Progress" below and the words "Incorporated" and "November 17, 1911" on the outside edge of the inner circle and the words "City of Rialto" and "California" around the outer edge of the seal and the same is established and declared to be the seal of the city of Rialto.

1.08.020 - Facsimile.

The facsimile of the official seal shall bear the following inscription:

In the lower center thereof shall be inscribed the Rialto Bridge and the words "Bridge to Progress" below; in the upper center a street with homes on the left and business buildings on the right, with mountains in the background and airplanes and clouds in the sky above, and the words "City of Rialto, California, Incorporated November 17, 1911" on the outer edge of the facsimile, and the facsimile being colored blue, green, yellow, gold and black.

1.08.030 - Use of official seal.

The city clerk is the custodian of the official seal of the city of Rialto. The official seal is designated to identify official city facilities, events, and publications. The impression of the official seal shall be made and used upon official documents executed by the city or its duly authorized officials. Except as permitted by applicable law, it shall be unlawful for any person to make, reproduce, manufacture, display or use the official seal, or its design or any design so closely resembling the same as to be apt to deceive or be reasonably mistaken for in any way the official seal, for any purpose other than official business of the city, a city sponsored event, or publication and those matters expressly approved by the city council by resolution.

1.08.040 - Limits on use.

A. No person shall use the official seal, or any facsimile thereof, for purposes of supporting or opposing the nomination or election to any city or other public office of himself or herself or any other person, or for purposes of supporting or opposing any ballot measure, nor include such official seal on any writings distributed for purposes of influencing the action of the electorate, or any part thereof, in any election. This section shall not be applicable to writings issued by the city of Rialto or the city council as a whole pursuant to the law.

B. No person shall use the official seal, or any facsimile thereof, for any malicious purpose or for the purpose of financial gain.

1.08.050 - Violation—Misdemeanor.

Any person who maliciously or for commercial purposes, or without the prior approval of the city council, uses or allows to be used any reproduction or facsimile of the official seal of the city in any manner whatsoever is guilty of a misdemeanor.
