§ 2-2.201. Filing of candidates' statements.

Candidates' statements and the procedures relating thereto shall be governed by Section 13307 of the Elections Code of the State, and amendments thereto, except that candidates' statements shall be filed in the office of the City Clerk no later than the sixtieth day before the election if the statements are for an election for which nomination papers are not required to be filed.

§ 2-2.203. General municipal election.

General municipal elections for the election of officers and for such other purposes as the Council may proscribe shall be held in the City pursuant to Article XVIII, Section 18 of the Redondo Beach City Charter.

§ 2-2.204. Special municipal election.

Other municipal elections shall be known as special elections and may be called from time to time by the City Council. Such elections shall not be subject to the provisions of Division 41, Section 1000 et seq., of the California Elections Code.

§ 2-2.205. Procedures for holding elections.

Unless otherwise provided by ordinance hereinafter enacted, all elections shall be held in accordance with the provisions of the Elections Code for the holding of municipal elections, so far as the same are not in conflict with the Charter.

§ 2-2.206. Mailed ballot elections.

The City Council may, by resolution, provide for an election by mailed ballot notwithstanding the limitations of California Elections Code, Section 4000 et seq.

§ 2-2.207. Electronic filing of campaign statements.

(a) Any elected officer, candidate, committee, or other person required to file statements, reports or other documents as required by Chapter 4 (Campaign Disclosure) of Title 9 (Political Reform) of the California Government Code shall electronically file such statements. From and after January 1, 2017, electronic filing is mandatory.

(b) Once an elected officer, candidate, committee, or other person files a statement, report, or other document electronically pursuant to subsection (a), all future statements, reports, or other documents on behalf of the filer shall be filed electronically.

(c) In any instance in which an original statement, report, or other document must be filed with the California Secretary of State or Los Angeles County Clerk/Register Recorder's office, and a copy of that document is required to be filed with the City Clerk, the filer may, but is not required to file the copy electronically.

(d) If the electronic system is not capable of accepting a particular type of statement, report, or other document, an elected officer, candidate, committee, or other person shall file that document with the City Clerk in a paper format.
