§ 4-9.701. Hang gliders prohibited.

It is unlawful for any person to take off or land any hang glider in the City.

For the purposes of this section, the term "hang glider" shall mean and include any hang glider, glider kite, kite, or other motorless vehicle, device, or contrivance which enables a person to fly, glide, soar, or otherwise be propelled through or sustained in the air by human power or air currents; provided, however, the term "hang glider" shall not include any aircraft regulated or required to be registered by the Federal Aviation Authority of the United States.

§ 4-9.702. Definitions.

For the purposes of this article, unless otherwise apparent from the context, certain words and phrases used in this article are defined as follows:

"Glider"

shall mean a model aircraft which maintains flight by means of wind currents or thermals and is either uncontrolled by human beings or is controlled by radio transmission or other electronic means.

"Powered model aircraft"

shall mean and include any model aircraft which maintains flight by means of an electric motor or fueled engine and is controlled by radio or electronic transmission, wires, or similar means.

§ 4-9.703. Flying powered model aircraft and gliders.

No person shall fly a powered model aircraft or glider within the City, except for gliders of 10 ounces or less in weight.

No person shall operate a model aircraft with a wilful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property.
