5.80.010: PURPOSE AND INTENT:

The rules and regulations set out in this chapter govern the participation by tow truck operators in the city's police department rotational tow program and the operation of storage garages for impounded vehicles in the city. Any person or entity desiring to participate in the city's rotational tow program shall enter into a tow service agreement with the city. No person, firm, entity, partnership, business or corporation shall be entitled to more than one tow service agreement with the city in connection with its participation in the city's rotational tow program. 5.80.020: REGULATION AUTHORITY:

The city may regulate the operations of tow truck operators participating in the city's rotational tow program by making reasonable orders respecting character, extent, quality and standards of service governing tow truck operators and storage garage operating procedures, fixing rates of operations, and making such other rules and regulations as may be reasonably necessary to facilitate tow services rendered to the public, including the establishment of emergency standby lists of tow companies. 5.80.030: VEHICLE OWNER RIGHTS:

The right of any vehicle owner involved in a traffic collision to call for tow service of his or her own choice shall not be infringed upon by any tow truck operator participating in the police rotational tow program provided the removal of the vehicle may be made without undue delay. (Ord. 2353 § 1, 1997)

5.80.040: ASSUMPTION OF RESPONSIBILITY FOR VEHICLE:

Participants in the city's police rotational tow program, upon signing CHP form 180 (report of impounded vehicle), shall assume full responsibility for the vehicle and the contents for each impounded vehicle. (Ord. 2353 § 1, 1997)
