25-28: SIZE AND SPECIFICATIONS GENERALLY:

A. Water Mains: All city water mains hereafter installed shall have a minimum inside diameter of six inches (6") and shall be of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) or ductile iron, American Water Works Association, classifications or specifications, class 150 or equal. Effective July 1, 1986, asbestos cement pipe will no longer be considered acceptable.

B. Fittings And Valves: All fittings and valves shall be American Water Works Association specifications, class 150 ductile iron or equal. All fire hydrants shall be American Water Works Association specifications and type to be installed shall be approved by the city engineer and the chief of the fire department. 25-29: ESTIMATE OF COST; APPLICATION ACCOMPANIED BY DEPOSIT OF AMOUNT OF ESTIMATE:

Any application for the extension or installation of water mains shall be accompanied by a deposit of money equal to the estimate of the public works director or designee for the cost of actual demand size, plus fittings, valves and fire hydrants. Should the actual cost for the installation of the water line be less than the estimate, the applicant will be refunded the difference between the actual cost and the estimated cost. Should the actual cost be greater than the estimate, the applicant must deposit the additional money between the actual cost and the estimated cost and no water service shall be furnished through or by means of the installed line until the additional money has been deposited.

The city council hereby declares it to be its intention that the full cost and expense of actual demand size together with all fittings, valves and fire hydrants be paid by and borne by the applicant. (Ord. 623 § 2; Ord. 1438, 8-21-1990; Ord. 1614 § 3, 9-17-2002)

25-30: DEVELOPER CONSTRUCTION OF FACILITIES:

Whenever a developer is required, as a condition of approval of a development permit, to construct a public facility described in a resolution adopted pursuant to this section, and when such construction is necessary to ensure efficient and timely construction of the facilities network, a reimbursement agreement with the developer shall be offered. The reimbursement amount shall not exceed the actual cost of the construction of the facility by the developer. In the event the actual construction cost of the facility exceeds the fee required of the development project, the city shall enter into a reimbursement agreement for the cost in excess of the fee required for the project, to be paid from the special account established pursuant to this section. 25-31: COST TO INCLUDE COST OF EXCAVATION, BACKFILL, FITTINGS, ETC.:

The cost of water mains shall include the cost of all pipes, excavations, backfill, replacement of pavement, block work, safety precautions, valve connections, fittings and fire hydrants cost together with all pipe valve fittings in connection therewith. (Ord. 623 § 4)
