Chapter 14.04 — WATER USE REGULATIONS

It is unlawful for any person, firm or corporation, to draw or take or cause to be taken or drawn any water from any water main, pipe, conduit, ditch, standpipe, hydrant or reservoir of the city without permission from the city council.

It is unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to break, tap or in any way injure any water main, pipe, conduit, ditch, standpipe, hydrant, reservoir, machinery, apparatus or waterworks of the city without permission so to do from the city council.

It is unlawful for any person to use any water from the waterworks system of the city for any purpose upon any premises for which water rates have not been paid or to allow any such water to run to waste from any hydrant or other fixture in his immediate care or control.

It is unlawful for any person to allow any faucets, hose, sprinklers, or other continuous streams to run from any fixture after an alarm of fire has been sounded and water shall not be turned on again until the fire is known to be extinguished.

It is unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to irrigate any acreage property except with the consent of the city council and water for plants and shrubbery shall be used between such hours and such times as may be from time to time designated by the city council.

It is unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to make any connections with the city water main or with any pipe or fixture connecting therewith, or to reconnect pipes which have been disconnected, or to turn water on or off from any premises without permission of the city council. When a permit is issued by the city council, or under its direction, for the extension or repair of any pipe or fixture connected with city water main, it shall be the duty of the person to whom such permit is issued to report to the superintendent of the city water department within 24 hours after the completion of such connection, extension or repair, the condition of such connection, extension or repair showing the faucet, standpipe, hydrant, bathtub, toilet and fixtures connected with the city water main or pipes.

It is unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to place on or about any fire hydrant, standpipe or stopcock, connected with the water main or pipe of the city, any refuse or other obstruction so as to prevent free access to the same.

It is unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to deposit or to cause or permit to be deposited, in any reservoir, pipe, flume, manhole or stream connected with the city waterworks system, any mineral, animal

or vegetable matter or substance or permit to be done any act or thing that will impair or imperil the purity or wholesomeness of any water designed for household or domestic use.

It is unlawful for any person, firm or corporation supplied with water from the city water system to use the water for any other purpose or purposes than those reported to the superintendent of the water system on the application for water, without having first obtained the consent of the city council.
