Chapter 2.303 — TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT

2.303.010 - Created—Direction.¶
There is created a functional unit of city government known as the transportation department, under the general administration of the city manager, which shall be under the direction and control of the director of transportation.

2.303.020 - Department functions.¶
The department shall:
A.
Operate traffic signals, traffic control signs, markings and other traffic control devices under the city's jurisdiction;
B.
Manage the operation of all on-street parking, off-street parking facilities, and administer related parking functions, including staff support to various parking districts;
C.
Conduct transportation planning and oversee transportation development throughout the city;
D.
Perform transportation and traffic engineering for the city as directed by the city manager;
E.
Conduct the traffic analyses for the environmental review process and all city projects;
F.
Administer transit services throughout the city; and,
G.
Provide staff support to the transportation advisory commission and other commissions or committees related to transit or transportation activities throughout the city.

2.303.030 - Special designation.¶
Whenever a statute, rule or regulation, or any city ordinance, resolution or motion imposes a duty upon the "traffic engineer," or similar designation, the duty shall be performed by the director of transportation, unless exceptions are contained in this chapter.
