Chapter 36A — TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM

Sec. 36A.1. - Creation.¶
There is hereby created a department to be known as "Oceanside Transportation System."

Sec. 36A.2. - Superintendent of transportation—Office created.¶
The transportation department shall be headed by a superintendent to be known as "superintendent of transportation."

Sec. 36A.3. - Same—Posting of surety bond; amount determined by city council.¶
The superintendent of transportation shall post a surety bond with the city for the faithful performance of his duties in such an amount as the council may determine.

Sec. 36A.4. - Same—Duties.¶
The duties of the superintendent of transportation shall be as follows:
(a) To be in charge of the bus transportation system, subject to rules and regulations promulgated by the council.
(b) To supervise the conduct and function of all employees in such department.
(c) To establish and determine the routes and number of busses to be operated on such routes, with the consent of the city manager and the council.
(d) To deposit daily with the city treasurer all monies collected and received the prior day. And during the time when the city treasurer's office is closed, he shall deposit such monies in such places as the council may determine through the city manager.
(e) To perform such other duties as the council may impose upon him from time to time.

Sec. 36A.5. - Operation of city busses.¶
Except as provided for in this chapter, it shall be unlawful for any person, partnership or corporation to operate an intracity passenger bus business within this city.
