§ 10.68.010. Definitions.

As used in this chapter, the word "bicycle"

means any device upon which a person may ride which is propelled by human power through a system of belts, chains or gears and which has wheels at least 20 inches in diameter and a frame size of at least 14 inches.

§ 10.68.030. Safe mechanical condition prerequisite to license.

No bicycle license shall be issued unless the bicycle to be licensed complies with the requirements of the Vehicle Code as to its safe mechanical condition.

§ 10.68.050. Damaging serial numbers, licenses.

No person shall willfully remove, destroy, mutilate or alter the manufacturer's serial number or the license on any bicycle.

§ 10.68.060. Receiving, concealing equipment with altered or damaged numbers or licenses.

No person shall buy, sell, receive, dispose of or conceal any bicycle from which the manufacturer's serial number or the license has been removed, defaced, covered, altered or destroyed.

§ 10.68.070. Disposition of bicycles in hands of Police Chief.

All abandoned bicycles and unidentified bicycles remaining in the hands of the Police Chief shall be disposed of as provided in Section 2.60.090.

§ 10.68.080. Further regulation by city.

The city may, by resolution, make such further regulations of bicycles as it is empowered to do by the State Vehicle Code, including, but not limited to, designating the issuer of bicycle licenses, setting license fees, determining fines for violations not in excess of $10.00, and establishing regulations governing the licensing of transferred bicycles.
